Earlier this summer, I decided to shed some of last year’s winter weight. I had a lot of fun putting it on, but it was time for change! I began to think myself thin. Every day, I sat and imagined feeling light, healthy, and happy. Within a month, a new center with cold tubs, saunas, a jacuzzi, red light therapy, PEMF, and compression therapy opened up near me!
I’m back to meditating in chilly water three times a week followed by toasting in a delicious cedar-scented sauna. Near icy waters aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. I feel vibrantly alive. I started naturally craving foods that work with my body. Without trying at all, I’ve lost weight. If I had stressed about the curves, I’d be carrying the emotional weight of the extra weight, and it would have weighed me down! Joy called me on an inspiring path instead. What feels good to you will call you.
Likewise, I’ve felt it is time to attend to some legal matters recently. For years, the thought of LLCs, trusts, and estate plans did not thrill me. Quite the opposite! Wonderful clients over the years have even offered to do these for me, but each time, the thought weighed me down. Only recently did it start feeling good to ponder.
Since I still wasn’t inspired to act, I gave the problem to God, using one of my favorite prayers, “At the right time, in the right way, at the right price… please find me the perfect person to handle these things.” The prayers was far easier than weighing my options and overthinking the matter.
A few months ago, I sat down and, without thinking, googled a certain phrase. Up popped a legal firm that was it and I knew it. Right time. Right way. Right price. I wrote down the website and proceeded to lose my note! Last week, while talking to a friend about the humor in the situation, he started raving about the firm that did his LLCs. Guess what! It was the same one! I didn’t even have to search for my lost piece of paper!
To make a long story short, this week, had a free complimentary consultation, and in less than 24 hours, had a trust and an LLC ready to go. The best part? Not only did the kind soul patiently explain things to me in plain English, but I was greeted by their endearing and charming elder dog, who has been with the firm for years! Perfection.
When you don’t know what to do and don’t feel like doing anything yet, delegate up. Give God the task of helping you figure things out and guiding you. It is the Divine’s job anyway and we only hurt ourselves when we push ourselves to do things that don’t yet resonate. If you allow yourself to listen to your feelings and dance with the universe, it delivers more than you’ve asked for. Things flow in miraculous fashion.
Life isn’t always easy. Choices aren’t always obvious, but you can always get back into a Divine flow by returning to your feelings.
Here are a few pointed to help you return…
1. Ask yourself often, “How can I make the best of where I’m at?”
Everyone wants to feel good. When life doesn’t make it easy, we still have choice. How can you make the best of where you’re at?
When I woke up earlier this week, I discovere a $852 charge in my paypal account from someone I didn’t know, hadn’t worked with, and whose website looked like a scam. My first reaction was not, “How can I make the best of this?” It involved a few other words! Quickly I realized I wasn’t going to get the problem handled, eat breakfast, and get to work on time unless I made the best of it.
So I sat with the angels, who inspired me to talk to AI. AI suggested I simply call the bank. Within ten minutes a delightful customer service representative had the charge removed, tagged the biller’s name with a fraud alert, and sent me kindly on my merry way with the rest of my day.
When someone you love is in pain, that’s another tough scenario. It doesn’t feel good. I’ve been there many times this year. How to make the best of that? I couldn’t fix anyone, but I could love them. I could believe in their wellness. I could pray. Love always feels good. Thinking of them getting better felt good. Prayer feels good. And so I turned to the direction where the feelings guided me, and was able to assist in my own way. They followed their feelings too. They’re all doing better.
Asking the simple question, “How can I make the best of this?” will always guide you and inspire you to the best-feeling thoughts or actions in a given moment—no matter how difficult—which in turn will lead you by feel into a kinder reality
2. Ask yourself “What feels good right here, right now?”
The answer is going to be different for every person, and even for one person it will be different from day to day. What feels good? What do you want to do here and now? Maybe you’re rushing to work but you want a nap. Can you set a timer for two mintues, breathe and sit with the angels for a quick “pick me up”? Can you trust if you take that brief time, your whole day, including traffic might flow more smoothly?
Maybe you want to feel better but you’re grieving. Wrapping up in a blanket and taking a nap might offer the best possible feeling here and now. Trust that this is your most graceful path. Perhaps your dear one in spirit will give you a pep talk that you won’t remember, but you’ll feel a little better upon awakening.
Our path doesn’t always look “right” to those around us. A decade ago, many parents were concerned about their kids’ obsession with video games. It didn’t look like a productive pursuit. But the angels understood that while some of these kids were just numbing, many loved the thrill of the fast-paced games and they were following their feel-good guidance. They urged the parents to help their kids find a baland between school and games and trust that these kids were learning skills they’d needin the future. At the time none of us fully understood.
Now, some of these kids are the young entrepreneurs forming tech companies that rise and fall, making and losing millions in months and then bouncing back for another exciting attempt at the next level. Some of them are the programmers, the influencers, and the ones charting their own course rather than following the pack. Some of them have traditional jobs but stand up to the stress much better than othrs. Their gaming prepared them for the fast pace of today’s life. They find exhiliration in the ups and downs vs. being overwhelmed. Their grace-guided path didn’t look conventional, but it had a purpose.
Ask yourself, what feels good, right here, right now? Don’t overthink it. Feel it. Trust it
3. Don’t let others’ opinions about what is right for you, sway you from your own
Advice resonates or it does not. Listen to your own feelings. Listen to your own inner compass. There are thousands of books written on how to heal or be healthy, how to get rid of negative beliefs, how to eat, sleep, decorate, diet, gain enlightment, and live. But the truth is, despite the fact that everyone you know will have opinions too, you are living in your body. You are in touch with your own mind. You, and only you know what resonates with you and what doesn’t. Trust that.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation. You can simple say something like I do when questioned: “I find when I trust my natural instincts in life works well when I listen to them… and when I don’t, I wish I did!”
The feelings we have about life’s actions tell us quickly and easily if those actions are the gentlest, most guided, and grace-filled path.Precious few of us were raised with this wisdom. Most who taught us weren’t aware of the way the universe really works.
As a result, it is hard to trust at times that you will actually accomplish what you need to do if you ask God for help doing it in grace, and wait for inspiration. It is hard to believe that taking a little time to rest will give you more efficiency and time in the long run. It is hard to believe that doing something that seems pointless might be just what you need to refill your spirit so you can be “on” when you need. And it is hard to trust that surrendering to the waves of grief is the quickest way to return to love.
God’s grace and guidance don’t cater to human logic . The path is tailored for each one of us, individually, in each moment, and if you’re willing to trust your feelings, you’ll be guided in a beautiful and elegant flow that fits your life, your finances, and best of all, your heart.
